My husband and I are seperated and he is fighting me on paying child support and custody. He wants to pay the lowest amount the mediator calculated($340) and I want the higher amount ($689). He would not budge so now we have to go to court in front of a commissioner. Has anyone done this and what can I expect?

Filing for child custody will vary from state to state, but most states allow individuals to represent themselves in filing motions for child custody. My dad is trying to take myself and five younger siblings out of the state of Illinois and move to New Jersey. My mom lives here in Illinois. She does not want my dad to take us. I believe that he cannot take us without permission from my mom and the court. Is this true? I am speaking at the trial and need some good reasons to stay here with my mom. I am 16 years old. How is it in my best interest to stay here? Any tips or advice for me? Thanks in advance.

I am seeking to modify the current custody of my daughter to be changed to her residing with me instead of her dad. My attorney told me that I need to obtain affidavits from people but I am not sure what exactly those affidavits need to contain. Just a general statement about me as a person? Or as a mother? Does anyone have a sample to share? Also, can relatives do that or is it better to get affidavits from people not related to me?
